Heathery Knowe is a vibrant and happy school and working in partnership with our parents and our community is of paramount importance to us.
We are fortunate to have a very active and supportive Parent Teacher Committee. We also have a School Council made up of two representatives from each class, primary one to primary seven. Our school council are often the 'movers and shakers' in Heathery Knowe and all the pupils take their role very seriously. They certainly keep the head teacher and the staff on their toes!
The staff team in Heathery Knowe are committed and hard working and strive to ensure a positive and supportive ethos in the school and with the help of our pupils, a warm welcome to all who come through our doors is a certainty.
Heathery Knowe Primary is presently the oldest school in East Kilbride. The school was opened for the first pupils in August 1953. Heathery Knowe was originally opened as a temporary school while the building of our neighbours, Murray Primary was completed. However, nearly sixty years later we are still going strong.
We are happy to welcome St-Louise Primary School to share our building, until summer 2012, while their school building is refurbished.
The school is due to have a new building in 2013, but the 'old' building is wearing well. We have a wonderful garden in the centre of the school called the 'Flower Pot Garden' which is used by all pupils, nursery children, staff, visitors and parents to the school. In good weather use the garden for events.
